Methods of Company and Product Carbon Footprint Calculation

(course in development, anticipated date - winter semester 2026)

The educational programme was developed within the framework of the NATIONAL RENEWAL PLAN project (NPO_VŠPJ_MSMT-2135/2024-4); 7.4 Promoting a strategy for the sustainability of green skills in education at the College of Polytechnics Jihlava (VŠPJ).

The course is aimed at acquiring the theoretical and practical knowledge needed to measure and evaluate carbon footprint at the company and product level. Participants will learn about the principles of GHG emissions, international standards (GHG Protocol, ISO 14067, PAS 2050), EU and Czech legislative requirements (e.g. CSRD, EU ETS, EU taxonomy) and LCA methodologies. The course provides tools for identifying emission sources, working with data and emission factors and correctly defining inventory boundaries including Scope 1, 2 and 3. The practical part focuses on company and product carbon footprint calculations, use of available software tools, development of emission inventories, emission reduction scenarios and economic evaluation of measures.

Absolvent is ready to independently measure and evaluate the carbon footprint of the company and the product in accordance with international standards and legislative requirements. These competencies are in high demand in organizations that are preparing for mandatory non-financial reporting, implementing sustainability strategies or seeking to reduce the environmental burden of their operations and products.
