Preparatory English course at B1 level

 

The English language preparation course is taught by an expert tutor/lecturer and results in demonstrable knowledge of B1 level equivalent to the PET exam.

 

The course is full-time, the possibility of online learning is a maximum of 2 teaching days. To maintain the quality of the course, we will record attendance. If a participant fails to attend the class twice without excuse, we consider this as a vacancy for the next participant. A maximum of 3 teaching dates (9 hours) is allowed for absences.

Applications for the current preparatory course in English will open from April 16, 2026.

- Who is the training for

The English Language Preparatory Course is intended for current students of the Polytechnic College Jihlava who wish to improve their level of English and for prospective full-time and combined students of the Polytechnic College Jihlava who have already submitted a complete application to study and who need to improve their knowledge and prepare for better mastery of the lessons.

When entering the preparatory course, the participant must have an English language level of at least A2.

- Education Objective

The aim of the preparation courses is mainly to help students to pass their aj exams at B1 level. Also to help new students to prepare for the entrance exams (related to aj questions) and also to deepen their language skills. Thus, to alleviate the fears of studying at university.

 

 

- Scope of training and current dates

The entire course is spread over seven teaching blocks and one day of final test, the course includes a total of 42 teaching hours.

- Education Scope

The training will be based on the textbook "English Grammar in Use" by R. Murphy (Intermediate), which covers B1 level grammar. At the same time, participants will receive a list at PET level, the knowledge of which will be practiced during the lessons and will be the subject of a final test. The course emphasizes systematic practice of grammar and vocabulary through modern language teaching methods.

 

 

- Education Completion

Participants will gain a solid foundation of English at B1 level and be able to demonstrate their knowledge of vocabulary and grammar in the final test, which has a set minimum pass rate of 65%. If they meet this pass rate, they will receive a "certificate" of completion of the preparatory course. The final test is optional.

-Training Cost

The course is free of charge for the participants, it is implemented within the framework of the ESF OP JAK project "Modernization of education and work with students at the VŠPJ.

Education registration is open from April 16, 2026 via electronic application.

The admission decision and detailed information about the course will be received by the applicant within 3 days at the latest.

 

Course capacity is limited to 24 participants.
