Recognition of foreign education and qualifications (nostrification)

The College of Polytechnics Jihlava, as a public university, is entitled in selected cases to decide on the recognition of foreign higher education and qualifications pursuant to Section 89 of Act No. 111/1998 Coll., on Higher Education and on Amendments and Supplements to Other Acts (the Higher Education Act).

The university compares the content and scope of the foreign study with the study in a similar accredited study programme carried out by a public university in the Czech Republic. The relevant public university can be found, for example, in the list of public universities in the Czech Republic on the website of the Ministry of Education of the Czech Republic. If the study programmes differ in significant respects after comparison, the application for recognition will be rejected.

Basic information on the procedure for applying for recognition can be found at the graduate of the foreign university:

Application Fee:

  • In accordance with the provisions of Section 90a of Act No. 111/1998 Coll., on Higher Education Institutions, the HEI requires a fee of CZK 3,000 for acts related to the procedure for the application for recognition of foreign higher education and qualifications when submitting this application to a public higher education institution
  • the applicant will be asked to pay the fee after submitting the application
  • if the application fee is not paid within the specified time limit, the proceedings in respect of the application in question will be discontinued without further resolution in accordance with the provisions of Section 66(1)(c) of Act No. 500/2004 Coll., Administrative Code, and the HEI will not deal with the application further
