College Cooperation in Tourism

project reference number M00132
grant title: OP European Territorial Cooperation Austria-Czech Republic 2007-2013
period of implementation: 1 June 2009 - 31 May 2012

Tourism has a high potential in the Austrian-Czech border region in the form of natural wealth and cultural monuments, agro-tourism is developing, new cycling routes are being built to connect the two countries. The problem of the lack of cross-border management and marketing of tourist destinations still applies. The main aim of the project is to create conditions for the meeting of experts, academics and students. Students from tourism-oriented universities will have the opportunity to learn about practical problems and present the results of their work in a professional forum. They will benefit not only from meetings, exchange of professional experience and international contacts, but also from the opportunity to publish in an international peer-reviewed journal.

The intention of the Polytechnic University Jihlava and the Austrian partner school Fachhochschule Technikum Wien is to create conditions for mutual cooperation in the exchange of students in the field of professional practice. The students will thus get the opportunity to get to know professional foreign companies where they will carry out their professional practice for 14 weeks. Another aim of the project is to link practical knowledge with the theoretical basis that students acquire during their studies at the partner schools. In this way, the academic staff receive feedback from the students on whether the content of each course is useful and applicable in practice.
