The Applied Engineering study programme provides you with a practically oriented follow-up master's degree in the field of mechanical engineering, automation, robotics, and electronically controlled mechanical systems, with a particular focus on the design and manufacturing technology of products made from modern materials, taking into account the use of modern computational methods and artificial intelligence in industrial applications.

During your studies, you will acquire the necessary knowledge and practical skills in a range of specialized subjects, such as mechanics of bodies and systems, fluid mechanics and thermomechanics, mechatronic systems and robotics, applied finite element methods, fundamentals of automation and Industry 4.0, fundamentals of programming and computer science, and, last but not least, fundamentals of management and project management. The professionally oriented study programme has a strong practical focus, enabling students to gain deeper knowledge and understand the connections between theory and its implementation in solving practical problems.

Applications should only be submitted electronically via the e-applicationThe admission fee is 650,- CZK and must be paid no later than the closing date for applications of the given round (if you do not enrol, the fee will not be refunded). Further payment instructions (account number, variable symbol) find it in the electronic application. The fee must be paid again for each round of admissions.

Applications in the 2nd and 3rd supplementary rounds will only be allowed provided that the number of applicants already admitted in the 1st basic round is not already full.

Recognition of subjects completed in previous studies (university/higher professional school)

Applicants who have previously studied at another university or higher professional school may apply for recognition of previously completed study subjects after enrolling at the College of Polytechnics Jihlava.
Students always formally enrol in the first semester, but the possibility of subject recognition may shorten their overall study period. Detailed information about the recognition process can be found in the IS VŠPJ in the section Study – Recognition of subjects. This section is accessible to students after successful enrolment in the study programme. We recommend submitting applications as soon as possible after enrolling in your studies so that the results are known before study subject registration and timetable creation begin. The application is usually processed within 30 days.

Applications are assessed by the directors of the relevant study programmes based on the conditions listed below:

  • Current nature of the completed part of the study programme: The subject completion must not be older than five years on the date of application.
  • Corresponding content: The minimum content overlap with the subject included in the College of Polytechnics study plan must be at least 75%.
  • Study results in the subject:
    • If the subject has been graded, marks of 1 or 2 (on a scale of 1–4) or grades of A, B, or C (on a scale of A–F) may be recognized.
    • If the subject was completed with granting credits for result acceptance, it can be recognized if it is completed in the same way at the College of Polytechnics Jihlava.
    • If the subject was completed with an examination with a grade of A–E / 1–3, it can be recognized even in case it was completed only with credits for result acceptance at the College of Polytechnics Jihlava.
  • Additional information for the recognition of subjects completed at a higher professional school: subjects that are part of the core curriculum of a study programme at the College of Polytechnics Jihlava (see the Study Plans tab) cannot be recognized.

    • The conditions of admission to study at the College of Polytechnics Jihlava  (hereinafter referred to as the VŠPJ) are set out in accordance with the provisions of Sections 48 to 50 of Act No. 111/1998 Coll., on higher education institutions and on amendments and supplements to other acts (the Higher Education Act), as amended, and in accordance with the Rules of Admission to the College of Polytechnics Jihlava and Articles 11 to 13 of the College of Polytechnics Jihlava Statutes.
    • To be admitted to a study programme, applicants must meet the general conditions and the additional conditions specified for individual study programmes.
    • Knowledge of the Czech language: Foreigners (except for the Slovak Republic) must prove their knowledge of the Czech language by passing a school-leaving examination in Czech (successfully completed school-leaving examination at a Czech secondary school) or by passing a written test or oral interview during the entrance examination at VŠPJ  (understanding spoken language, ability to interact and answering questions determining the applicant´s motivation, expectations, and immediate needs).

Appeal Against a Decision to Deny Admission to a Program
An applicant may file an appeal (a formal appeal) against a decision to deny admission to a program. The Rector of VŠPJ decides on the appeal.

The purpose of the appeal proceedings is to verify whether the admission process and the decision issued were in accordance with the Higher Education Act, the internal regulations of VŠPJ, and the conditions for admission to study established under Section 49 of the Higher Education Act. An appeal can therefore only be successfully upheld if the applicant raises a specific objection regarding a violation of these regulations or conditions.

The Rector will review the appeal and:

  • grant it if he finds that a mistake was made (and will amend or revoke the decision),
  • deny it if the decision was issued in accordance with legal and internal regulations.
The rector's decision is final; there is no further recourse.

What grounds are not relevant for an appeal
An appeal must allege that the decision conflicts with specific legal or internal regulations or admission requirements. In particular, the following types of grounds are unfounded:

  • a strong interest in studying or personal motivation,
  • scoring just below the cut-off for admission,
  • request for admission in place of applicants who do not enrol,
  • school performance or work experience, if these are not already taken into account in the evaluation under the admission rules,
  • courses taken, language exams, etc., that do not meet the specified criteria,
  • subjective assessment of the difficulty of the entrance exam,
  • health, social, or family circumstances.
Appeals based solely on these grounds, or appeals that do not clearly indicate where the violation of the law or the incorrectness of the decision lies, do not meet the legal requirements and will most likely be dismissed.

How to file an appeal
An appeal must be filed within 15 days of the date the decision was notified (delivery via the IS VŠPJ system). It must be submitted in writing:
  • in person at the reception desk (cashier’s office) or the Study Department,
  • via the data box,
  • by email (provided the submission is accompanied by a recognized electronic signature in accordance with the Administrative Procedure Code),
  • by mail.

The appeal must include:

  • the applicant’s identifying information (first name, last name, date of birth, contact address),
  • the identification of the decision against which the appeal is directed,
  • specific grounds (explaining how the decision is deemed to conflict with legal or internal regulations or the admission procedure’s terms and conditions), including a statement of the applicant’s request,
  • handwritten signature,

If the appeal is filed by the applicant’s representative, a power of attorney must be provided; without it, the appeal will not be considered.

Compulsory subjects must be successfully completed all during the course of study (in the case of a language variation of the same subject, it is sufficient to complete only one of the variants). In the case of compulsory elective subjects, this obligation only applies to the student's own selection of a group of study subjects.
