We are a small school and every student has the chance to travel abroad.

The study programme Applied Mechanical Engineering will provide you with a practically oriented bachelor's degree in engineering, especially focusing on design of design and technology of production of products made of modern materials and containing electronically controlled mechanical systems. During your studies, you will be equipped with the necessary knowledge and practical skills in a range of specialist subjects such as machine and plant design, rigid and compliant mechanics, materials science, manufacturing technology, basic automation and control. The general competences of the student in terms of his/her future employment are supported by the teaching of a foreign language and the inclusion of subjects developing economic and managerial competences and soft-skills in the areas of production economics, quality management, logistics, communication and presentation, project management and teamwork. The curriculum is strongly practically oriented so that students gain deeper knowledge and connections between theory and its implementation in practical problem solving during their studies.

Applications should only be submitted electronically via the e-applicationThe admission fee is CZK 650,- and must be paid no later than the closing date of the application round (if you do not enrol, the fee will not be refunded). Further payment instructions (account number, variable symbol) find it in the electronic application. The fee must be paid again for each round of admissions.

Applications in the 2nd and 3rd supplementary rounds will only be allowed provided that the number of applicants already admitted in the 1st basic round is not already full.

What subjects will you study?

A list of the courses you will take during your studies can be found in the Curriculum tab below on this page. The study also includes a long-term internship (14 weeks).

  • The condition for admission to study is the attainment of secondary education with a matriculation examination (successfully passed matriculation examination at a secondary school).
  • Applicants are admitted to study on the basis of an application for study and proof of passing the matriculation examination. The maximum number of students admitted to the study programme may total 104 in both forms of study, with a maximum of 52 in the combined form of study. The date and time of application is decisive for admission to study within the maximum number of students.
  • Acceptance of applicants for study who are foreign nationals (with the exception of Slovak nationals) is also subject to proof of knowledge of the Czech language. This knowledge can be proved by a matriculation examination in the Czech language (successfully passed matriculation examination at a Czech secondary school) or by passing an entrance examination in the Czech language at the Polytechnic University of Jihlava. The exam consists of a written multiple-choice test (testing knowledge of vocabulary and grammar, max. 20 points) and an oral interview (understanding of the spoken word, ability to interact and to determine the motivation, expectations and immediate needs of the student, max. 20 points).

More information on the Czech language exam, including exam dates, can be found on the website HERE.

Further information on the admission procedure:

  • The matriculation certificate/certification must be submitted in one of the following ways:
    • online (upload via personal folder in the e-application)  - only authorized document conversion (provided by Czech POINT branches)  - other electronic versions of the document, e.g. simple scan will not be accepted
    • by correspondence to the study department (officially certified copy)
    • in person at the study department (certified copy)
  • Maturity certificate/certificate of matriculation must be delivered by September 9, 2025 (in case of non-delivery by the deadline, the candidate will not be admitted to study)
