The Business Management and Economics programme provides a practically oriented master's degree focused on effective management of business activities, economic analysis and strategic decision-making. The aim of the programme is to prepare professionals able to apply for middle and senior management positions in the business and public sectors. The study emphasises the use of digital technologies, understanding of economic contexts and the development of soft skills relevant to management practice.

The curriculum includes professional courses in business economics, performance management, process and strategic management, data analytics and sustainable development. The study in the programme includes a professional practical placement, a thesis and the enhancement of professional English knowledge and skills.

After graduation, you will be able to, for example:

      • assess the financial health and stability of a business,
      • design and implement development strategies and projects,
      • apply performance management and business process optimisation methods,
      • use advanced digital tools for decision support,
      • solve economic and managerial problems using analytical methods,
      • communicate and act at a professional level in both Czech and English,
      • apply the principles of sustainability, ethics and social responsibility in practice.

Applications should only be submitted electronically via the e-application. The admission fee is 650 CZK and must be paid no later than the application deadline of the given round (if you do not enrol, the fee will not be refunded). Further payment instructions (account number, variable symbol) can be found in the electronic application.

What courses will you study?

The list of courses you will take during your studies (both compulsory and your choice of compulsory and elective courses) can be found in the study plan. The study also includes a professional practice of 12 weeks.

  • A prerequisite for admission to study is proof of proper completion of studies in a university study programme.
  • Acceptance of the applicants for study who are foreign nationals (with the exception of Slovak nationals) is also subject to proof of knowledge of the Czech language. This proficiency can be demonstrated by passing the Czech language secondary school-leaving exam (successfully passing the final exams at a Czech secondary school) or by passing the Czech language entrance exam taken at the College of Polytechnics Jihlava (understanding of the spoken word, ability to interact and talk about the motivation, expectations and immediate needs of the applicant).
  • Eligibility to study demonstrated in the entrance examination, which will include.
    • a PC-based test focusing on knowledge of economics, management, business economics and financial management (max. 30 points),
    • English language test (max. 10 points).
The ranking of candidates is determined on the basis of the number of points obtained in both tests. For each incorrect answer, one-fifth of the point value of the question is deducted. If a candidate does not mark any answer for a given question, he/she will receive 0 points for that question.
  • The Rector will excuse a graduate of the College of Polytechnics Jihlava from taking the entrance examination if they meet all of the following conditions:
    • he/she is a graduate of the Finance and Management bachelor's degree programme or study programme,
    • he/she has achieved study results of a weighted arithmetic average of 1.7 or lower during the period of study in the Finance and Management degree programme or study programme,
    • he/she graduated in the academic year 2020/2021 or later.
  • The maximum number of students admitted to the study programme may total 100 in both forms of study, with a maximum of 50 in the combined form of study. For applicants with the same score, the date and time of application are decisive for admission to study within the maximum number of students.

Further information on the admission procedure:

  • The entrance exam will comprise multiple-choice questions. Applicants will choose from five options; only one answer is correct. The candidate will be awarded 1 point for the correct answer. For each incorrect answer, the candidate will be deducted one-fifth of the point value of the question (i.e. 0.2 points). If the candidate does not mark any answer for a given question, he/she will receive 0 points for that question. The test may include a reading comprehension test. A short text will be given, followed by one or two questions (multiple-choice questions again - 5 options, 1 correct) on the text. The English language entrance test verifies general language skills at B1 /B2 level as well as vocabulary in microeconomics, management, marketing and banking.
  • Recommended Reading and Sample Questions can be found HERE.
  • Proof of proper completion of studies in a higher education programme/certificate of graduation must be submitted in one of the following ways:
