VŠPJ opens up to high school students and the general public through the Polytechnic Academy of VŠPJ

The VŠPJ Polytechnic Academy was inaugurated on 3 June 2025 at the College of Polytechnics Jihlava. The ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including the Mayor of Jihlava Petr Ryška and the Councillor of the Vysočina Region Jiří Běhounek. The opening speech was given by the Rector of the VŠPJ Zdeněk Horák, who underlined the importance of cooperation between the college, secondary schools, companies and regional institutions. Afterwards, the Vice-Rector and the Acting Head of the Polytechnic Academy Václav Báča presented the vision and the content of the Academy. The heads of the departments then went on to introduce the individual study programmes and there was also a tour of the school and laboratories with expert commentary.

The audience included representatives of secondary schools from the Vysočina Region, representatives of companies, regional hospitals, charity, the municipality and other partner institutions. All of them agreed that the VŠPJ Polytechnic Academy represents an important step towards connecting the university environment with secondary schools and the general public.

What is the VŠPJ Polytechnic Academy?

The VŠPJ Polytechnic Academy offers secondary schools a unique opportunity to enrich their curriculum through expert lectures delivered by experienced academics from the VŠPJ. Our academics will come directly to schools to present attractive topics in the following areas to students:

• tourism
• economics
• mathematics
• social work
• engineering
• health

How does it work?

Simply: the school chooses a topic, we arrange a date and our experts will come to the school with the presentation. The lectures can be one-offs, or they can be linked into thematic cycles. They are always adapted to the age and focus of the students.

Academy for all generations

The new academy will also include the familiar activities of the VŠPJ, such as the University of the Third Age, professional courses, but also the new Children's University and scientific lectures for the public and the promotion of student research.

Under the motto "We inspire further study and professional development", the Polytechnic Academy becomes a bridge between education, practice and the public.
