Why should a person interested in studying engineering choose a programme at the College of Polytechnics Jihlava?

The Applied Mechanical Engineering programme is an ideal choice for those who want to combine theoretical knowledge with real practice and participate in innovative projects during their studies.

The study focuses on areas that are key to modern industry - aerospace, automotive, medical technology, optics, additive technologies and many more. This gives students the opportunity to work on real technical challenges and gain valuable experience directly from practitioners. The curriculum covers a broad spectrum of knowledge - from machine design, mechanics and materials, to manufacturing technology, automation and control.

In addition to technical skills, learners learn teamwork, communication, project management and presentation skills, which are just as important in practice as professional knowledge.

The study also includes foreign language teaching, which enables graduates to find employment not only in Czech but also in international companies. The aim of studying at VŠPJ is to prepare students for real practice in modern industry - not only by imparting professional knowledge, but also by getting involved in innovative projects that shape the future of technology.

What makes VŠPJ different from other faculties or schools that offer a similar programme?

The College of Polytechnics Jihlava distinguishes itself primarily by its emphasis on linking theory with practice. Thanks to close cooperation with industrial partners in the region, students have a unique opportunity to gain not only professional knowledge but also real work experience.

A key part of the study is a 14-week internship directly in companies that use the technologies and processes that students learn. In addition, practitioners are actively involved in the classroom, leading selected courses, consulting on term and final papers, and helping students better understand current trends in the field.

This hands-on approach helps them to better prepare for their careers and greatly facilitates their job search after graduation. So if someone is looking for a course that will truly prepare them for their future career while offering valuable industry contacts, the College of Polytechnics Jihlava is a great choice.

What opportunities to get involved in practice or research does the school offer students during their studies?

At the College of Polytechnics Jihlava, students have the opportunity to actively participate in research or development projects that are carried out in cooperation with industrial partners. Thanks to this, they can participate in solving current technological challenges and work on attractive topics that have direct application in practice.

Projects are often funded by national and international grant programmes and the school fully supports students in their involvement. The opportunity to join research activities is open to all students, regardless of their stage of study - they can get involved at any time according to their interests and abilities.

In addition to participating in external projects, there is also an internal grant competition, which gives students the opportunity to develop their own ideas and gain valuable experience in research and development work. This internship is a great opportunity to connect theoretical knowledge with real challenges in industrial practice and prepare for future careers.

What is the employment prospects for male and female graduates after graduation from the VŠPJ?

Graduates of the Applied Mechanical Engineering programme find a wide range of employment in a number of technical fields that are in high demand today. During their studies, they will acquire not only important theoretical knowledge, but also practical skills that will enable them to work, for example, as designers, developers, technologists or production managers.

Another option is to work in the service sector, where they can work as service technicians, service department staff or quality control specialists in production. Many graduates are also involved in research and development of new technologies, for example in testing laboratories where innovative materials and manufacturing processes are validated.

Studying the Applied Engineering programme thus opens the door to a diverse range of professions - from designing new products to ensuring their quality to optimising production processes.

How is the admission procedure to the Applied Engineering programme at the VŠPJ?

Applicants have the opportunity to apply for the first round of the admission procedure for the Applied Engineering programme until 25 August 2025. Applicants can apply electronically via the e-application form, which is available on the website along with detailed information about the study programme. A great advantage is that it is not necessary to take an entrance exam for admission.

What should an engineering degree applicant consider before applying?

There is nothing complicated to consider before applying - you just need to be interested in engineering and want to understand how things work and how they are made. The Applied Engineering degree programme is ideal for those who want to create products with real benefits for everyday life. Without engineering, it would be impossible to design or manufacture technical equipment, transport equipment or consumer goods.

Engineers are behind most of the things we use every day - from cars and trains to production lines and innovative technologies. If candidates enjoy technology and want to be involved in the development of new products, Applied Engineering will open the door to a promising field with wide employment opportunities not only in the Czech Republic but also abroad.
